Can ChatGPT Make Videos? (2026)
Updated October 31, 2026
The short answer
As of October 31, 2026, ChatGPT does not make videos. It writes, plans, and makes still images, while OpenAI closed the Sora website and app on April 26, 2026 and the Sora API on September 24, 2026. Use ChatGPT for the idea, then use Orvlex to turn photos into a clip: Hotel Lobby, AI zombie, or Tiny Desk. One payment of $9.90 buys a new 15-second video on the matching page and by email, with no account and no prompt box.
Can ChatGPT make videos right now?
No, not as of October 31, 2026. OpenAI’s ChatGPT capabilities overview lists answers, writing, image creation and editing, files, audio you upload, and voice conversation. It does not list making a video. You can upload a photo and get a new still image, or an edit of that still. You do not get a moving clip back.
OpenAI’s help center says the Sora web and app experiences were discontinued on April 26, 2026, and the Sora API was discontinued on September 24, 2026. In September 2026, OpenAI support said on its community forum that it had no timeline for video creation inside ChatGPT.
Those dates are OpenAI’s. If you are reading this later, check OpenAI’s help center again before you rely on them. This page was updated on October 31, 2026.
ChatGPT and Gemini, from their own help pages
Gemini is here because people ask about it in the same breath. The Gemini column is Google’s Gemini Apps help. The ChatGPT column is OpenAI’s help center. Nothing else is filled in.

What ChatGPT is good for
Use it before you open the studio. Orvlex does not have a prompt box, a lyric box, or a topic line, so do not ask ChatGPT for a script to paste in.
Pick the scene
Hotel Lobby if you want the orange studio and one hanging microphone. AI zombie if you want the reunion story. Tiny Desk if you want the desk concert. ChatGPT can talk through which of those three fits the photos you have.
Decide who is in which photo
Hotel Lobby: Photo 1 is left, Photo 2 is right. AI zombie: Photo 1 is the survivor, Photo 2 is the familiar person. Tiny Desk: Photo 1 is the lead and is required.
Write the caption
Ask ChatGPT for the post you will publish with the finished clip. The video itself will not read that caption. The scene is fixed.
How to turn photos into a clip
The studio on this page sells the same $9.90 clip as the pages below. After you pay, the page you picked opens so you can add your email and generate.
Hotel Lobby
Two photos. One person on the left, one on the right, in an orange studio with one hanging microphone. It does not include the COLORS recording or the song. Open Hotel Lobby.
AI zombie
Two photos. Photo 1 is the survivor. Photo 2 is the familiar person, infected in a ruined city and healthy in the memory. You cannot change the ending. Open AI zombie.
Tiny Desk
One lead photo is a solo. Add sax, keys, tambourine, and a backing singer in that order, up to five, with no skipped slot. It is not an official concert, and it does not play “Outstanding.” Open Tiny Desk.
Photo tips
- One clear person in each file, face easy to see, looking toward the camera. The photos do not have to be taken together.
- Hotel Lobby and AI zombie need two photos. Tiny Desk needs the lead, and the extra people only if you want them, in order.
- Use the clothes you want in the clip. JPG, PNG, or WebP, up to 10 MB.
- Only upload people who agreed to be in it.
Honest limits
ChatGPT will not render this clip, and Gemini is not Orvlex. Orvlex will not follow a prompt, a lyric, or a custom ending. Hotel Lobby does not include the original song. Tiny Desk does not play “Outstanding” and is not that concert series. AI zombie does not let you rewrite the story.
Orvlex is not a face swap onto an existing video. It makes a new 15-second clip from the photos that scene needs. It is not a photo editor and it does not change your voice in real time.
$9.90 buys 10 credits, and one 15-second clip uses all 10. There is no free generation and no subscription. You do not need an account. Unused credits expire one year after purchase. Email support@orvlex.com to request a refund of unused credits that have not expired. Stripe’s processing fee is deducted. Expired credits are not refunded. If a safety check blocks a photo before generation, the task stops and the 10 credits come back. If the finished video is blocked, you do not receive it and those credits are not returned. There is no promised wait. The private download link expires 12 months after the video is created.

Can ChatGPT make a video of me?
Not as a video. The Sora app closed on April 26, 2026. A photo of you can still be used for a still image in ChatGPT. For a moving clip, add photos you have the right to use on Hotel Lobby, AI zombie, or Tiny Desk. One clip is $9.90.
Does ChatGPT make videos for free?
ChatGPT does not make videos on the help pages checked for this guide, so there is no free ChatGPT video to switch on. Orvlex is paid too. One 15-second clip is $9.90, and there is no free generation.
What happened to Sora?
OpenAI’s help center says the Sora website and app were discontinued on April 26, 2026, and the Sora API on September 24, 2026.

A work or school account needs a qualifying Workspace license. It is not available to users under 18. You can add up to 5 images and one video, and you can ask it to generate audio. That is Google’s product, not Orvlex, and it is not one of these three fixed scenes.
Can ChatGPT help me make an Orvlex clip?
Yes, before you pay. It can help you choose Hotel Lobby, AI zombie, or Tiny Desk, decide which photo is which person, and write the caption you will post. It cannot type a prompt into Orvlex, because Orvlex does not take one.
Can I make a clip of just me?
Yes, on Tiny Desk. One lead photo is a solo, and you can add up to four more people in order. Hotel Lobby and AI zombie each need two photos. The price stays $9.90 for the one 15-second clip.

There is no promised turnaround. The clip appears on the page when it is ready, and we email a private download link.
Where do I download it?
On the page for that clip, when it is ready. We also email a private download link. That link expires 12 months after the video is created.
What if a safety check blocks the video?
If a photo is blocked before generation, the task stops and the 10 credits come back. If the finished video is blocked, you do not receive it and those credits are not returned.
Can I get a refund?
Unused credits expire one year after purchase. Email support@orvlex.com to request a refund of unused, unexpired credits. Stripe's processing fee is deducted. Expired credits are not refunded.
